My son is sponsoring a child in Bangladesh through DCI’s Sun Child Program since 2005. Abid likes the program, especially the communication with his sponsored friend. Abid saves money in his piggy bank for his sponsored child and always waits for the letter and picture of his sponsored friend. This is like a pen pal relationship and is moving towards a lifelong friendship for him. Child sponsorship is not just about giving some money. I think it is easy to give money. What matters is the involvement and the relationship. Giving your time for underprivileged and unfortunate people is more difficult than simply giving away your money. –Dr. Abdul Ali Manu, President, DCI Canada

I am having a great time working and collecting data in DCI’s Clinic for the Underprivileged. I really appreciate DCI’s hospitality. Also, I recently visited some DCI-supported orphanages, and I was truly moved by the changes the services offered by DCI are making in these children’s lives. I am so lucky to have been able to work there as a volunteer. –Saika Belal Nitol DCI Youth Volunteer

After my visit to Bangladesh, I decided to devote myself to aiding the distressed children through DCI. I also want to work extensively for youth leadership development in the USA by motivating American children to take on more humanitarian activities. In the near future, I want to visit Bangladesh with an organized group of my American friends to conduct more humanitarian work for Bangladeshi children. –Arush Sarwar Kenner, LA

Thank you to Dr. Hoque and everybody at DCI for educating hundreds of students at Dodd Middle School, in Cheshire, Connecticut, about the needs of impoverished children in Bangladesh and throughout the world. It has been our pleasure to run community service projects to donate hundreds of books and sponsor five children. After reading the children’s education updates, we were impressed to learn how much each child progressed within only six months. Many students felt so strongly about DCI’s mission that they became volunteers in the fight against child labor, hunger, poverty, and blindness. We hope to continue to schedule presentations and plan community service projects with DCI to benefit the needy children of the world. –Toni L. I am extremely humbled to be a helping hand to the Distressed Children & infants international organization. I have always yearned in my life to help a child in need in my home country of Bangladesh, but I never knew how to make a difference. DCI gave me the opportunity to fulfill this dream of mine and I am very grateful and I give my utmost gratitude to the organizers. I hope that my actions will be a setting stage for the younger generations to realize and also get involved with this philanthropy. I love how the awareness of the organization has increased, and I look forward to the growth and development of it in the coming future. –Tammana A. Morshed Fontana, California

Jonathan-Coleman-1I am honored to be a part of DCI and hope to bring a better future for the children in Bangladesh, because they are the future of the country. I could never have anticipated that I would go to Bangladesh. There are many obstacles that would have prevented me from ever travelling there. I was given the opportunity to go to Bangladesh as a volunteer representative of Distressed Children & Infants International (DCI), and I spent almost two months in Bangladesh. This has truly been a life changing trip for me. The Bangladeshi people realize that there is a lot of work to be done in their country. Many people I met told me almost pleadingly that there is so much here, if only we fixed the poverty. I came to recognize the power of providing small changes in poverty stricken peoples of Bangladesh, but also the power of one person’s vision to change the lives of thousands of people. I am very grateful to the wonderful dedicated staff at DCI. My trip inspired me to get even more involved with DCI, and it confirmed my lifelong desire to work for humanity. –Jon Coleman DCI Youth Volunteer, CT April, 2009
