My son is sponsoring a child in Bangladesh through DCI’s Sun Child Program since 2005. Abid likes the program, especially the communication with his sponsored friend. Abid saves money in his piggy bank for his sponsored child and always waits for the letter and picture of his sponsored friend. This is like a pen pal relationship and is moving towards a lifelong friendship for him. Child sponsorship is not just about giving some money. I think it is easy to give money. What matters is the involvement and the relationship. Giving your time for underprivileged and unfortunate people is more difficult than simply giving away your money. –Dr. Abdul Ali Manu, President, DCI Canada

Every year we send gifts to our sponsored friend Shanta and her family during celebration of EID. Shanta and her sister never had Eid gifts before. We want to give the same joy of EID to our sponsored child. –Reanna Rafiq and Gulen Rafiq Suwanee, GA

Thank you to Dr. Hoque and everybody at DCI for educating hundreds of students at Dodd Middle School, in Cheshire, Connecticut, about the needs of impoverished children in Bangladesh and throughout the world. It has been our pleasure to run community service projects to donate hundreds of books and sponsor five children. After reading the children’s education updates, we were impressed to learn how much each child progressed within only six months. Many students felt so strongly about DCI’s mission that they became volunteers in the fight against child labor, hunger, poverty, and blindness. We hope to continue to schedule presentations and plan community service projects with DCI to benefit the needy children of the world. –Toni L. DCI is working hard to reach its goal of preventing the cycle of poverty through education and health care. Recently, I had an opportunity to visit our Hobiganj project under the Sun Child Sponsorship Program. It was an enlightening experience shared by each of us, making our visit to Bangladesh an unforgettable memory. My family and I have met various students from several different schools located within one area. They have been provided with suitable learning materials for school, and have access to the best form of education that they are able to receive. Seeing that they are placed under strong able hands promotes more determination from me to work with DCI. I take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to all the volunteers, sponsors, donors and well-wishers for their dedication and commitment to DCI’s mission and vision. –Saleh M Kibria Los Angeles, California
