My son Mahin Mursalin writes our sponsored kids regularly and gets so excited to get a letter in the mail from Bangladesh. It is an amazing program that changed our daily life. –Rownak Alin New York

My son is sponsoring a child in Bangladesh through DCI’s Sun Child Program since 2005. Abid likes the program, especially the communication with his sponsored friend. Abid saves money in his piggy bank for his sponsored child and always waits for the letter and picture of his sponsored friend. This is like a pen pal relationship and is moving towards a lifelong friendship for him. Child sponsorship is not just about giving some money. I think it is easy to give money. What matters is the involvement and the relationship. Giving your time for underprivileged and unfortunate people is more difficult than simply giving away your money. –Dr. Abdul Ali Manu, President, DCI Canada

Anisur-RahmanI really appreciate this endeavor. It is a very constructive effort to involve our kids with their roots. I am requesting all of our friends to involve their kids for such support to the distressed children of Bangladesh. Anusur Rahman Nanto Australia

We have been sponsoring a distressed child in Bangladesh since right after my little daughter Sohi was born. We keep the sponsored child’s picture in our home so that our daughter realizes that she has a friend back home in Bangladesh. We hope that she will develop a connection with our roots in Bangladesh through the Sun Child Sponsorship Program, and we will be happy to continue participation far into the future. –Sonia Khan Little Rock, Arkansas

Something amazing happened to our children. It created some new feelings in the hearts of our children. It opened their eyes to the pain of the rest of the world, showed them how the majority of children live and most importantly, motivated them to think of others. Compassion for others was born in their young hearts the day we rescued a child from poverty by sponsoring through the Sun Child Sponsorship Program. –Nahid Sharmin South Glastonbury, CT

image00162-150x150I believe Distressed Children & Infants International (DCI) has developed excellent programs that can give American children the opportunity to learn about the lives of children from different countries around the world and will foster in them a sense of empathy for others and a desire to take a leadership role in working for humanitarian causes. My son Sebastian, a 7th grader at Dodd Middle School, has been sponsoring a child in Bangladesh and has been volunteering for DCI for the past 4 years. It is empowering for him to know he can make a difference in another person’s life. Like DCI, my family and I also envision a world in which all children have equal access to basic human necessities, including education, health care, food, and shelter, as well as the opportunity to achieve a secure and prosperous life. We all hope for a world in which child labor will be eliminated globally. DCI’s programs and efforts give us hope that this vision may become a reality one day. DCI is truly leading the world to peace. If you are a parent, you should consider getting your child involved with DCI’s programs. DCI has developed a system that instills compassion and responsibility in children who volunteer, which will benefit both your child and his or her sponsored child. I have really come to appreciate DCI’s great work. –Molly Preudhomme; Cheshire, CT
