Seeing the extent of the poverty in Bangladesh over the years, particularly among children, has been painful. But on my most recent trip there things were different. For the first time I saw the flame of hope and happiness in the bright faces of the many children DCI has helped. Having the opportunity to work in such a caring environment where children receive access to health care and education makes one feel that there is hope for the future of the world. –Maliha Ahmed DCI Youth Volunteer, PA

image00162-150x150I believe Distressed Children & Infants International (DCI) has developed excellent programs that can give American children the opportunity to learn about the lives of children from different countries around the world and will foster in them a sense of empathy for others and a desire to take a leadership role in working for humanitarian causes. My son Sebastian, a 7th grader at Dodd Middle School, has been sponsoring a child in Bangladesh and has been volunteering for DCI for the past 4 years. It is empowering for him to know he can make a difference in another person’s life. Like DCI, my family and I also envision a world in which all children have equal access to basic human necessities, including education, health care, food, and shelter, as well as the opportunity to achieve a secure and prosperous life. We all hope for a world in which child labor will be eliminated globally. DCI’s programs and efforts give us hope that this vision may become a reality one day. DCI is truly leading the world to peace. If you are a parent, you should consider getting your child involved with DCI’s programs. DCI has developed a system that instills compassion and responsibility in children who volunteer, which will benefit both your child and his or her sponsored child. I have really come to appreciate DCI’s great work. –Molly Preudhomme; Cheshire, CT

image00163-150x150I want to thank DCI for changing the lives of my children. My Daughter, Lora, a senior in Cedar Hills High School, Texas, has sponsored a child in Bangladesh through DCI for the last 4 years. I saw that she gradually changed her attitude towards her life. Before, she always wanted brand named items and clothing. Now she says to me, “Dad we do not need brand named jeans or shoes, let’s save some money to visit Bangladesh to meet my sponsored child”. In the same way, my son, Meeraj, just 11 years old, is shredding papers and cleaning in my office each week. He is saving the 5 dollars per week he is earning in a piggy bank and trying his best to help his sponsored child. I find the motivation my children have obtained from DCI through the Sun-Child sponsorship Program, is excellent and I am positive it will have a long lasting effect on my children’s lives. Thank you to DCI. –Masud Chowdhury Dallas, Texas

image00164-150x150My daughter Amanda is sponsoring a child and has been volunteering for the last 5 years at DCI. She is working in our restaurant and also babysitting to earn money to sponsor the child in Bangladesh. I am very proud of her and her work. In fact, the volunteering work with DCI helped my daughter open her eyes to the outside world. She has learned how most of the children live in this world. My daughter has become motivated and dedicated to DCI’s cause. I believe by working with DCI she gradually developed greater compassion for others. She has also learned a lot of skills and gained extensive experience that will positively help her in her career. I am thankful for DCI’s effort. –Xiao Lan Wang

image00166-150x150I have seen thankfulness generated in my children through DCI’s Sun child sponsorship. And I wouldn’t trade that for anything. I can definitely tell you that if you want to teach your children to be thankful, to be compassionate, to live a grateful life, consider sponsoring a child or getting your kids involved in some kind of volunteer activity with DCI that teaches them to think beyond themselves and will ultimately help them to be a responsible person and future leader. It’s never too late. –Jolly Los Angeles, CA

It was indeed a great experience to meet the sponsored children of DCI at Hobiganj project. My family and I were touched by the warm reception we were given by the project people and especially the small kids. There is no doubt that DCI is doing a great job. I observed great commitment and dedication in all the staff. The children are very enthusiastic about learning. My message to them is “dare to dream and become great men and women”. This will serve as a milestone in my life and I definitely want do more with DCI. Sabbir Ahmed NY Aug 28, 2009
