DCI Participates in International Child Day & Child Rights Week 2009

Each year Child Rights Week is celebrated all over the world. Bangladesh also celebrate this week nationally. This year the government of Bangladesh observed this week during October 5-11. As child rights organizations Rights and Sight for Children (RSC) and Distressed Children & Infants (DCI) International participate in this event, through the National Girl Child Advocacy Forum. On Tuesday October 6, 2009, DCI started the week-long program with a rally, which began in front of the public library and ended at Shishu Academy. Other programs such as a debate competition, drawing competition, poem recitation and cultural programs, were held throughout the week. State Minister of the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury and Secretary Ms. Rokeya Sultana participated in all of the week-long programs.
