Free Eye Camp Held at DCI Clinic in Kallyanpur Porabari Slum, Dhaka

Free Eye Camp Held at DCI Clinic in Kallyanpur Porabari Slum, Dhaka

A free eye camp was organized on June 3, 2011 at DCI’s clinic in the Kallayanpur Porabari Slum. This camp was a joint initiative of DCI’s Health for Underprivileged and Blindness Prevention programs. The screened cataract patients will be provided surgeries free of cost. A simple surgery like this can prevent blindness if treatment is provided in time.
Dr. Nina Hoque, DCI Director, was Chief Guest on the occasion and inaugurated the eye camp. DCI’s partner organization Rights and Sight for Children implemented the program with sponsorship and direction from DCI.

It is with great pleasure that DCI confirms Dr. Jane Aronson of the Worldwide Orphans Foundation as a speaker at the 2011 Conference on Child Rights & Sight at Yale.
Dr. Aronson is a board certified general pediatrician and pediatric infectious diseases specialist, and has been a practicing adoption medicine specialist for the past 12 years. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University, and the director of International Pediatric Health Services (IPH), which she opened in 2000.

In 1997, Dr. Aronson founded the Worldwide Orphans Foundation to transform the lives of orphaned children and help them become healthy, independent, and productive members of their communities and the world. Since founding WWO, she has visited orphanages in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, Russia, and Latin America.

DCI is eager to learn more about Dr. Aronson’s work and benefit from her expertise as we continue to develop our own Orphan Support Program. We are certain that her knowledge and compassion will have a great impact on all our guests at this year’s conference.
