DCI Celebrating Mother’s Day

DCI celebrated Mother’s Day by thanking all the mothers for their sacrifice and hard work for their children. Since 2010 DCI has been working to ensure safe hospital delivery and pre & post-natal care of mothers in extreme poor locations of Dhaka. The wonderful bond between a mother and child is seen in these pictures of women who recently had safe hospital deliveries under DCI Health Clinic care.

SCSP is working to raise awareness about basic hygiene and other issues through showing videos at SunChild Sponsorship Nilphamari project area. This month, 180 children in one primary school enjoyed a video and learned about how and why it is important to take care of their teeth. DCI’s North Dakota Chapter took initiative for funding this project.

Empowering Youths through Learning Facility

Besides providing sponsorship support for children in school, DCI is providing facilities for learning to the community and all supported schools in its SunChild sponsorship projects’locations. The support is in the form of a reading club, mobile library and computer training at school and at DCI youth center. Children & youth of all ages are taking advantage of this support. In addition, the facilities are open for housewives interested to read and learn, they are enjoying the reading groups. This month alone, 17 girls and 4 women have completed a short course on computer and internet learning; 65 school students received opportunity to read books and 104 youths received reading opportunity through the mobile library.

Legendary singer Sabina Yasmin & acclaimed film actress Babita Akhtar stands beside the Underprivileged Children at a Child Rights Awareness Concert organized by Distressed Children & Infants International (DCI) and Rights and Sight for Children (RSC) at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) Auditorium. The children of DCI orphanage, Benuka Institute of Fine Arts, Monira Parveen Happy and Mashuda Bonni presented a mesmerizing performance in support of this great cause, which was enjoyed and supported by the great audience. DCI is grateful to all for their support and encouragement.

Journey for Rights & Sight Concert in Bangladesh and Australia

On March 23rd, 2018 Executive Director of DCI, Dr. Ehsan Hoque, is joining the Journey for Rights & Sight concert in Bangladesh and following that he will join a series of these events in Australia from March 30th to April 7th. The goal of the Journey for Child Rights & Sight (JCRS) event is to raise awareness about the prevalence of child labor and preventable blindness in Bangladesh and worldwide, and to inspire our community to take action on behalf of underprivileged children.
