You can give a vulnerable child living in severe poverty in Bangladesh the opportunity to become an independent and productive citizen. I’m happy there are great NGOs like DCI who are doing the work to challenge us to be better. I am really glad that you are convening this group today. As a member of both the foreign relations committee and the appropriation subcommittee that oversees funding for international aid I look forward to working with you to hearing about the obstacles that you face but also the success that you find to try to make the case for the U.S government to be a bigger partner in combating childhood poverty and visual impairment across the globe.
